Dr. Basavaraj Donur is an Associate Professo and
Coordinator at Central
University of Karnataka, Gulbarga. He took his B.A. (1991) and M.A.
(1993) in English from Karnatak University, Dharwad and he passed
SLET in1994. He obtained his first PhD for his thesis entitled
“Kannada Nataka Mattu Vastavate” from Kannada University, Hampi, in
2000 and he obtained his second PhD for his thesis entitled “The
Poetry of G.M. Hopkins and Basavanna—A Comparative Study” from
Karnatak University, Dharwad, in 2011. He published six books in
English –Reflections (2002), Encounter With Divinity (2005) (with
G.B. Sajjan) Quest (2007) (The proceedings of National Seminar
(Edited) ), New Perspectives on Girish Karnad’s Plays (Edited)
(2009), K.P. Poornachandra Tejasvi (in print) and Language,
literature and Culture (in print) and edited Aniketana, an English
quarterly, published by Karnataka Sahity Academy, Bangalore and 8
issues including a special issue on K.P. Poornachandra Tejasvi had
been brought out during his tenure.
He published five collections of short stories in Kannada—Tama
(2000) Havu Tulidene (2004), Tabalaji (2005) Parihar (2009) and
Dashakada Kathegalu (2011). He published 10 books of criticism in
Kannada—Ragngapravesha,(1998), Seelu Notagalu (2000), Karpoorad Giri
(2004), Bayala Beragu (2005), Kananada Nataka Mattu Rangabhoomi
(2007), Kannada Nataka Mattu Vastvate (2008), Hosa Dari (2008),
Shriranga (2010), Olagana Horagana (2010), Adhunika Kannada Nataka
Mattu Rangabhoomi (in print).He edited 8 books in Kannada Papiya
Paschchattap (2005), Koneya Ele (2006), Lajavanthi (2006), Hejjenu
(2002) (with others) Sneha Sampad (2005) (with others) Aivattu
Anuvadita Kathegalu (in print). He has published a number of
articles in national and international journals and magazines
besides presenting papers at national and international level
seminars and conferences.
